Rockfest ‘11
There’s a little girl at my house this weekend…
Upon closer look I discover there is not just one bee in my Linden tree, but dozens! Maybe even hundreds!
This reminds me of a starry night!
(In a sunny day sort of way! )
I posted a couple weeks ago about my “re-do” project. It’s almost finished. Here are a couple of shots to show what I’ve done!
Before:
Walls are white. My light is a wall lamp hanging on the wall. The desk is a built in (was like this when we moved in – which I did like at first). Everything was kind of jammed in that small area…my pc tower, printer, scanner, papers, bookshelf, etc. Besides having a lot of “stuff” in there, it was always very messy…1. because when you have a lot of stuff in a small area it always looks messy, and 2. I AM messy!
After:
I tore out the built in desk in the corner, and put in the small writing desk that we got from Brian’s brother. I probably won’t really use it as a writing desk, but I could if I wanted to, and either way I like it! Bought and installed a 4ft “floating” (black) shelf (Ikea), installed two new ceiling lights (Ikea), painted the walls – tan, and the small wall chocolate, refinished (top only) of an old library table that I’ve had for years. I was going to repaint the whole thing black, but when I started the project I realized that I liked the old “weather” look of the black, so I just sanded the top and put several coats of poly on it. I love it now! It has a shelf (below) so that I’m able to put my tower and my printer down there so that things do not look so cluttered! Moved my file cabinet into the closet in the guest bedroom and decluttered! I also put up my hanging shelves (Ikea) above my desk, and I still want to get another 4 ft shelf (Ikea) like the other one and put it above the hanging shelves, above my desk. I put the bulletin board up that I’ve had in my downstairs for years (Casey or Carly if it’s yours, please don’t take it away from me!!!), and I rearranged some pictures and the small black shelf on the wall on the right.
Other than the shelf and the poly I used everything that I already had – including the paint (my bedroom colors!) so the entire cost of this “re-do” was less than $25! THAT’S the part that makes me happiest!
A big goal is to try to keep it uncluttered and clean. That’s hard for a random – abstract person like me, but I still want to give it a try! This was a fun project for me, and it’s part of my “unravelling” experience! Making changes, stepping out, and trying to do some positive things in my life!
I typically wouldn’t do a long post like this for my 365, but it’s the only picture I have for today, so please forgive me!!!
It’s been a quiet weekend…and I’m lovin’ it!
(But miss my kids)
My lollipop lilies weathered the storm!
NOT microwave safe!
